Radio Tisdas
Blues has always been born of oppression, and this is the real desert blues, played by turareg trbesmen who live the pain every day. Created in Libyan refugee camps after a server draught blighte dthe region, Tinariwen's music was their battle cry - a kalishikov in one hand and a guitar on their back.
This is a recording made at a radio station in Mali last December with producers Justin Adams and Lo Jo. Working between 7pm and midnight (the only time when electricity was available), they've kept things rough and simple. The sound is about as raw and hypnotic as the desert blues gets.
THIS ALBUM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR SALE BY WRASSE RECORDS WORLD WIDE EXCEPT FOR UK/EIRE AND USA. |
